Website Management Quick Tip #1: Use a “Blog First” Social Media Strategy

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Small business site owners should always be looking for ways to improve their website’s performance – both in the search engines and in terms of how current and prospective customers use their site. To help in that very worthwhile endeavor, Electric Bricks will be publishing a series of “Quick Tip” articles aimed at offering real-world advice and strategies that are both effective and realistic for any busy small business owner. This is the first in that series.

Blogging as a Social Strategy

Simply put, this social media management strategy moves content back to where it belongs – onto your website – without sacrificing activity on your social platforms. The idea is that anything you feel is worthy of, let’s say, a Facebook post, should probably be mentioned first on your website, and then shared to Facebook, rather than just posting to Facebook alone. The advantage is that not only does your website get a new page added, thus increasing your footprint on the internet (and potentially appearing in more searches), but by then sharing that post to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or anywhere else you have a presence, you then get the benefit of having more external links pointing back to your website. This not only helps with SEO, but also provides more ways for new customers to find you.

Use a "Blog First" Social Media Strategy

Short & Sweet

These blog posts don’t need to be thousand-word articles. Short, succinct “micro-blogs” are fine for quick updates on what’s happening at your company, new products or services, or anything else you might have originally just posted to social media. Write a quick paragraph or two, add a photograph or good piece of stock art, and you now have a shareable piece of content that will help expand your brand’s presence and drive more traffic to your website.

Electric Bricks also provides this as a service to many of it’s clients and can help you, too. This can save you time and keep your website and social media fresh and active. If you’d like to discuss a content management strategy to help your site’s search engine optimization, contact us today and we’ll be happy to help you get in front of more potential customers.
